Cricket fever sweeps Hyderabad as Sreenidhi University TG20 unveils trophy ahead of inaugural season
Hyderabad, June 17, 2026: Ahead of the launch of the inaugural season of the Sreenidhi University TG20, the league trophy was unveiled at Hyderabad's iconic Tank Bund on Wednesday in the presence of representatives from Sreenidhi University, the Title Sponsor of the tournament, and former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu. Also present at the ceremony were league officials and captains of the eight participating franchises.
The unveiling marked another significant milestone in the countdown to Telangana's first franchise-based T20 league, which gets underway on June 21 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
Designed in the shape of the state of Telangana, the Sreenidhi University TG20 trophy celebrates the league's deep roots in the region and symbolizes the aspirations of the next generation of cricketers from across the state. The trophy will be the ultimate prize for the eight franchises set to battle for honours in the league's inaugural season.
As Title Sponsor, Sreenidhi University is playing a key role in supporting the development of cricket in Telangana and providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent. The partnership reflects the university's long-standing commitment to sports development, youth empowerment and holistic education.
"At Sreenidhi University, we view sports as a critical component of education because they impart some of the most important life lessons — discipline, resilience, teamwork, leadership and confidence. Our commitment to sports has remained steadfast over the years through cricket initiatives, mentorship programmes, scholarships, Sreenidhi Sports School and our football development efforts.
"Becoming the Title Sponsor of TG20 is a natural extension of that commitment and reflects our belief in platforms that create genuine opportunities for emerging talent. It is particularly encouraging to see players who have developed within the Sreenidhi ecosystem now participating in the league. Through partnerships such as TG20, we hope to contribute towards identifying and nurturing the next generation of athletes who can make Telangana and India proud," said [SREENIDHI SPOKESPERSON NAME & DESIGNATION].
